Police in Łódź, central Poland, have recovered a number of pedigree dogs, allegedly stolen by two boys aged 11 and 14.

More than 30 dogs of all breeds and sizes were discovered by officers at the home of the two teenagers after they were caught red handed taking a Yorkshire terrier from outside a local shop.

The older boy has confessed to stealing two of the dogs.

The boys’ mother claims that the animals had been bought at local markets by her dog breeding husband.

Among the collection of dogs were yorkies, golden retrievers, and miniature Doberman pinschers. Police are now trying to establish the real owners of the canines. So far five have gone home. (pg/ek)
