A parliamentary committee on ethics has reprimanded Civic Platform MP Janusz Palikot for saying that President Lech Kaczynski had blood on his hands

The maverick MP’s meaning was taken as Kaczynski being morally responsible for the death of the Smolensk crash victims.

Palikot also suggested that a special commission should examine whether or not the late President Lech Kaczynski was sober while boarding TU-154 which crashed near Smolensk on 10 April.

“We cannot allow Jaroslaw Kaczynski to make a hero and a martyr of his brother Lech Kaczynski who is responsible for the death of dozens of people and has blood of the crash victims on his hands,” stated Palikot.

A reprimand is the highest punishment that a committee on ethics may impose. Janusz Palikot has the right to appeal the decision. (mg/mmj)
