Fifty seven percent of Poles believe that Bronislaw Komorowski, who will be sworn in as president of Poland, Friday morning, will rule on behalf of all Poles, and not just supporters of the ruling Civic Platform party, finds a new poll.

Thirty seven percent believe he will be a more partisan president and represent only those who voted for him in the July 4 election, however, according to a survey by TNS OBOP.

Just over 60 percent of respondents believe that changes to economy and social life will move forward at a quicker pace now that the head of state and government are from the same party, Civic Platform.

But the harmony between Presidential Palace and government will diminish the power of head of state, believe 31 percent of those polled.

Fifty one percent believe that relations with Russia - which were often difficult under the presidency of the late Lech Kaczynski - will improve.

A survey was carried out by TNS OBOP between 8 and 12 July from a representative sample of 1,003. (pg)
