Bronislaw Komorowski “paid” the least for one vote during the presidential elections, if cost of the campaign is compared to with the number of voters cast for each candidate.
Komorowski, who won the July elections and was sworn in as President of Poland today, spent about 15 million zloty (3.8 million euro) on his presidential campaign, which is about one million zloty (250,000 euro) more than his main rival in the presidential race Jaroslaw Kaczynski.
However, when we compare the cost of the campaign with the number of voters, it turns out that Komorowski “paid” only 1.67 zloty (0.42 euro) for a vote. Jaroslaw Kaczynski’s vote cost 0.15 zloty (0.04 euro) more, i.e., 1.82 zloty (0.46 euro).
The costs of other presidential candidates’ campaigns were relatively lower. Grzegorz Napieralski, who came third in the presidential race, spent about 4 million zloty (1 million euro) on his campaign and he “paid” less for one vote than Jaroslaw Kaczynski. The Polish Peasant’s Party leader Waldemar Pawlak, in turn, spent 3.5 million zloty (880,000 euro) on presidential campaign but one vote proved to be the most expensive for him, as it amounted to almost 12 zloty (3 euro).
