The new National Broadcasting Council is to hold its first meeting today, during which the head of the council will probably be elected.
All members of the new council choen last week, Jan Dworak, Krzysztof Luft (Civic Platform related), Stefan Pastuszka (Polish Peasants Party) and Witold Grabos and Slawomir Rogowski (Democratic Left Alliance), will attend the meeting and choose the new leader. The former head of the National Broadcasting Council Witold Kolodziejski will then hand over power.
If President Bronislaw Komorowski signs the amendment to the media law, which went through both houses of parliament, also last week, the National Broadcasting Council will choose new members of the state broadcasters
’ TVP and Polish Radio managing boards.
New members of the National Broadcasting Council had to be chosen after both Houses of the Parliament and the president rejected a report on its activity which resulted in dissolution of the council. (mg)
