• Unexploded WW II bomb found in Warsaw

A 250 kilo WW II era unexploded bomb from was found by construction workers in Warsaw’s western Wola district, Monday.

 

The bomb was defused by sappers after police evacuated residents of some 20 nearby apartment buildings.

 

Spokesman for the Warsaw Fire Department, Piotr Tabnecki, told Polish Radio the bomb had been discovered by workmen at a construction site.

 

The mainly industrial Wola district is has been the area where most WW II unexploded bombs have been found in Poland’s capital that was heavily bombed during Nazi occupation. (ss)
