• Monument should not be in front of Presidential Palace, says poll
  • 21.08.2010

Sixty percent Poles think it is right to build a permanent monument to those who died in the Smolensk plane crash - but a majority do not believe it should be in front of the Presidential Palace.

The survey conducted for the Polish version of Newsweek found 70 percent of Poles think the monument should not be erected in the place currently occupied by the cross, placed by scouts immediately after the plane crash on April 10. Twenty one percent think it should be erected there.

The poll was taken by the Interactive Market Research Institute from a sample of 800 Poles aged 15 to 49 years. (pg)
