A man has drowned after his car slipped from a flooded bridge into a river in the southern village of Bielanka in the Beskids Mountains, southern Poland.

Firemen trying to pull the car out of the Ropa River suspect that the driver skidded while taking a turn onto the bridge following torrential rain which has yet again hit Poland this summer.

The man did not manage to get out of the car and drowned. Firemen have already pulled his body from the car. (mg)
