• Unis to monitor graduates’ career
  • 02.09.2010

Starting from October 2011 Polish universities will be obliged to follow their graduates’ career paths in research to see how affective higher education is on the job market in Poland.

According to an amendment to the law on higher education, universities will periodically check where their graduates found employment and how much time they needed to get employed. Universities which participate in the project, financed by the Human Resources Operational Programme, will be able to apply for 50 million zloty (12,600 euro) subsidy.

The aim of the project is to adopt university courses to the actual demand on the labour market so that graduates could easily find a job. In the EU university graduates usually find their first job three months after graduating, while in Poland two years after finishing a university course. Besides, as many as 60 percent of Polish graduates do not have a job which corresponds with their profession. (mg)
