• Poll finds Civic Platform could rule alone
  • 08.09.2010

The latest opinion poll by Gfk Polonia finds over half of voters declare they would vote for the ruling Civic Platform if elections were held this week - the party’s best approval rating since the Smolensk disaster in April.

With 52 percent saying they would support Prime Minister Donald Tusk’s Civic Platform - up four percent since April - the party could rule alone in with a majority of MPs in the lower house of parliament (Sejm).

The largest opposition party continues to fail to make inroads into Civic Platform’s support, with 35 percent they would support Law and Justice.

The Democratic Left Alliance would receive the support of eight percent of voters, down one percent since April.

The current junior coalition partner, the Polish Peasant’s Party is on three percent, two percent shy of the threshold for getting MPs in parliament.

The survey was conducted from a sample of 1000 on 1 to 6 September. (pg)
