Poland
’s foreign minister, Radoslaw Sikorski (right) has sharply criticized opposition leader Jaroslaw Kaczynski for his latest outburst, describing Poland as a “Russian-German condominium”.
Minister Sikorski was referring to an interview granted to the right-wing Gazeta Polska daily by Kaczynski, the Law and Justice chairman, in which he used the description “Russian-German condominium” while speaking about Poland under the present government of Civic Platform and PM Donald Tusk, arguing that they are far too eager to bow down to the wants of Berlin and Moscow.
“I consider this a slanderous remark for our country”, Minister Sikorski said, adding that “Jaroslaw Kaczynski has lost his mind”.
The Foreign Minister also spoke out sharply against his predecessor, Anna Fotyga - head of diplomacy under the coalition government led by Kaczynski, who apparently shares the Law and Justice leader
’s opinion.
“Today, Anna Fotyga says Poland is a Russian-German condominium, yet some months back she wanted to become ambassador of this ‘condominium’ at the United Nations. And it was this very condominium which secured for her, with considerable effort, a high ranking post in an international organization. A post she had forfeited because of a trivial reason”, Sikorski lashed out.
Anna Fotyga held a position at the International Labour Organization. In August, she resigned in protest over a statement by Poland
’s newly elected head of state Bronislaw Komorowski, who said that Georgia cannot count on him to such an extent as the late president Lech Kaczynski. (ss)
