Little did a fraudster trying to extort money out of a Warsaw grandmother know that the man he was trying to pass himself of as was a cop!

A young fraudster from Warsaw got the surprise of his life when he called up the 86-year-old woman and tried to cheat money out of her, using what has become the popular method of pretending to be her long lost grandson.

The man told his intended victim that he needed to borrow 10,000 zloty (about 2.5 thousand euro) towards a car he was buying.

What he didn’t know was that the old lady’s actually grandson was a police chief, whom she telephoned immediately after receiving the cheat’s call.

The real grandson set up a trap for the fake one, and caught him along with an accomplice.

Police are now looking for a woman also involved in the scam. (ek/pg)
