• Official - local elections set for 21 November
  • 15.09.2010

Prime Minister Donald Tusk has announced officially that local elections in Poland will take place on 21 November.

PM Tusk said Wednesday afternoon that the date was set after consolations with President Bronislaw Komorowski and the National Election Committee yesterday.

Election law dictated that the local elections had to be held in the November 14 to January 9 window.

The ballots will elect local councilors and mayors and presidents of towns and cities. They will also serve as a nationwide test of the popularity of both the government led by Tusk’s Civic Platform party and opposition parties. (pg)
