Head of Law and Justice, Jaroslaw Kaczynski has said that he is to symbolically boycott the PM and president by not shaking their hands.
In an interview with the Polish edition of Newsweek, Kaczynski blames the leaders of the Civic Platform party over the responsibility of the Smolensk air crash of 10 April, as well as the removal of the Smolensk cross which was originally placed outside the Presidential Palace by scouts following the crash.
Law and Justice chief Jaroslaw Kaczynski says that the Church “is being punished by the [political] establishment”, adding that many clerics supported Law and Justice in the presidential elections.
“The establishment wants to tell the Church that they have no right to support its political adversaries,” Kaczynski tells Newsweek, adding that “the whole affair [over the Smolensk cross] was a well planned act of provocation.”
Jaroslaw Kaczynski also told the weekly that he believes Law and Justice have a good chance of doing well in the general election billed for 2011, stating that we would once again like to become Prime Minister. He also hinted that Law and Justice stalwart Zbigniew Ziobro may don the party leadership in future elections. (jb)
