Ten centimetres of snow are being reported on the peak of Kasprowy Wierch in the Tatra mountains, where the temperature has dropped to minus 5 degrees Celsius. Snow is already falling at 1500 metres above sea level.
Mountain services are warning that because of snow coupled with high wind, conditions on trekking routes are very difficult and advise tourists not to venture out.
It is cold and wet in winter capital Zakopane, with rain and temperature around plus two degrees. The weather will improve next week say forecasters.
