Krzysztof Olewnik

Another death has possibly been unearthed by prosecutors investigating the abduction and murder in 2003 of Krzysztof Olewnik, the son of a wealthy businessman.

On 26 October 2001, a day before Krzysztof Olewnik was abducted, there were two parties going on at his home and it is possible that a man was killed during one of them, thinks the Prosecutor’s Office.

Wlodzimierz Olewnik, Krzysztof’s father, however, claims that there was only one party at his son’s house.

Earlier the investigators established that, Wlodzimierz Olewnik organized a party at his son’s house for policemen from Plock and friends, including Jacek K., who is suspected in being involved in Krzysztof’s abduction. The guests left the house at 23.00 CET because of a shortage of alcohol. Krzysztof was kidnapped after the party.

In December 2009, officers from the Central Investigation Bureau entered Olewnik’s house to look for new leads and found blood stains on a sofa. The blood did not belong to Krzysztof or any guest.

Prosecutors from the coastal city of Gdansk speculate that there could have been two parties going on at Olewnik’s house with two different sets of guests and during the second party someone was shot.

The sofa, stained with blood was later almost completely cleaned. The prosecutors will compare the blood with DNA of people murdered in October 2001 to find a victim.

The Prosecutor’s Office has analyzed two films recorded during the initial inspection of Olewnik’s house inspection on 27 October 2001, after Krzysztof’s abduction. The films were recorded at different times and there are significant differences in what they show. Furniture was moved, rooms were tidied up, a fridge was full of alcohol, there were clothes scattered around the swimming pool, although Wlodzimierz Olewnik’s guests claimed that no one used the pool during the party.

Besides, one of the guests maintains that there was a CCTV outside the house while police never found the recording from the camera. Prosecutors think that someone tried to cover up the tracks.

Olewnik’s family are convinced that elements of the investigation have been covered up from day one by a cabal of politicians organized crime and police. Three prisoners connected to the case and a prison guard have committed suicide. (mg)
