• Designer drug dealers threaten Justice Minister
  • 12.10.2010

Justice Minister Krzysztof Kwiatkowski has been granted special protection after receiving threats from designer drug dealers.

The Government Protection Bureau might also provide other state officials who have become the faces of the government’s anti-designer drug campaign with security services.

Recently, when police detained Dawid Bratko, dubbed by media as the Polish ‘Designer Drug King’, PM Donald Tusk said that any “threats or blackmail from designer drug dealers will only motivate the government to fight against designer drugs.” Tusk did not reveal then who was threatened by designer drug industry, however.

The Government Protection Bureau has also started protecting the head of the National Security Office General Stanislaw Koziej and the head of the Chancellery of the Prime Minister Tomasz Arabski but did not want to reveal the reasons of enhanced protection.

A week ago the government launched a nation-wide anti-designer drug campaign. As a result police raided over a hundred designer drug shops, closed down some of them and seized drugs which are being tested to check if they contain illegal toxic substances. (mg/jb)
