Karina Karwowska, a 10-year-old girl who was found after wandering around a forest in north-east Poland for six days, risks having her feet amputated due to frostbite.

The girl, who suffers from epilepsy, first went missing last Tuesday after she had gone mushroom picking near her home in Rzepiski, near Augustow in north-east Poland.

Karina was found by a passing driver on National Road 8, after police has spent three days searching for her, even suspecting that she might have been kidnapped or murdered.

When rescued, Karina was found to be severely dehydrated, with doctors finding as many as sixteen ticks on her body.

Due to cold weather, the girl caught frostbite. Doctors at a hospital in Suwalki are now trying to rescue the girl’s feet from possible amputation. (jb)
