• Overspending in Presidential Chancellery?
  • 15.10.2010

Additional costs of running President Komorowski’s Chancellery have risen from 11 million to over 23 million zloty (around 5.8 million euro) for 2011.

The Presidential Press Office has confirmed that planned total expenditures of the Chancellery next year will amount to 181.8 million zloty, which has been included in the 2011 budget draft.

Costs for the current year should be confined to 158.4 million zloty, it has been announced. The difference is attributed to additional costs of plane rental, which have been covered so far by the Defence Ministry, and a growing number of state distinctions awarded by the President.

The 2011 budget drafted by the government has been tailored to meet austerity measures compelled by a dangerously growing deficit in public finances. The document only had its first reading in Parliament and is still being debated by MPs in relevant committees. (ss/jb)
