Parliamentary committees on justice and special services have called for increased security at political party offices after a man stormed into the Law and Justice Lodz branch on Tuesday shooting one worker dead and stabbing another.
The Prosecutor’s General Andrzej Seremet, Chief of Polish Police Headquarters Andrzej Matejuk and head of the Internal Security Agency Krzysztof Bondaryk participated in the special committee today devoted to yesterday’s attack on the Law and Justice headquarters.
“Employees of party offices are now afraid to come to work,” claims Law and Justice MP Jaroslaw Zielinski and called for tighter security.
The MP repeated comments made by Law and Justice leader Jaroslaw Kaczynski that an atmosphere of hatred led to the attack on the party office yesterday.
“We should not underestimate the incident that happened in Lodz as the atmosphere of hatred can cause further danger, especially as some MPs already get death threats,” said Zielinski.
Police chief Andrzej Matejuk assured that parties’ offices in Lodz and other Polish cities will get extra security. (mg)
