A rock guitarist, a volleyball player, a black belt in karate and a female boxer are among the candidates in local elections in Poland on 21 November.

Adam Konkol, guitarist with the pop band Lzy, is a candidate for a councilor of the southern town of Rybnik, Andrzej Niemczyk, a successful volleyball coach who led Poland’s national team to gold at the World Championship in 2003 and 2005, will run in the local elections in the central city of Lodz.

Other candidates in the local elections are female boxer Karolina Michalczuk, world champion in boxing and Daniel Iwanek, a world champion in karate. (mg)
