Head of the European Parliament Jerzy Buzek (right), President Bronisław Komorowski, Prime Minister Donald Tusk, and Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski are the top four politicians enjoying the biggest public confidence in Poland, shows a new survey.

The poll for CBOS shows Buzek boasting the highest confidence rating on 65 percent, followed by President Komorowski with just three percentage points less.

The heads of government and foreign affairs have garnered 55 and 53 percent respectively, a decrease of three to four percentage points since the previous survey carried out in September.

The most rusted opposition leader is head of the Democratic Left Alliance Grzegorz Napieralski, enjoying public confidence of 52 percent of those questioned.

Politicians whom the public is most reluctant to place their trust in are head of the right-wing Law and Justice party, Jarosław Kaczyński, with 47 percent of the respondents claiming to have no trust in the former prime minister, alongside maverick politician Janusz Palikot (46 percent).

The survey has also presented surprising results as regards the popularity of certain politicians among the public. Law and Justice spokesperson, Mariusz Błaszczak, for one, has proved to be undistinguishable among 69 percent of the respondents, despite his almost daily presence in the media as the organizer of his party’s press conferences.

The survey was run between 7-13 October on a sample of 1,035 adults. (ab)
