A new board game, Around the world with JP II, has just been released by the John Paul II Centre.

The new board game released by Polish Board Games and distributed by the John Paul II Centre takes players on a journey around the world in the Pope’s footsteps.

John Paul II was famous for his round-the-world pilgrimages. The Polish pope spent nearly one thousand days of his pontificate outside of Rome, visiting 130 countries and covering a distance from the Earth to the Moon and back.

“The generation which is growing up knows John Paul II only from their parents’ stories. The board game about the Pope’s pilgrimages is an excellent idea of how to combine game with education about who Karol Wojtyla was,” Father Damian Rozalski told the Gazeta Wyborcza daily.

The players set off on a journey from Rome and need to travel through 104 boxes representing different countries. Each box refers to one pilgrimage. The player who gets to the box first wins a card with details on a pilgrimage, including quotes and trivia.

The person who collects most “pilgrimage cards” wins the game. (mg)
