  • 03.11.2010

‘Around the destruction - new research perspectives’ is a conference beginning at the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin today to mark Aktion Erntefest, when the Nazis massacred Jews left in the Lublin Ghetto in the early days of November 1943.

Erntefest - or Harvest Festival – claimed 42,000 victims, murdered in Majdanek, Trawniki and Poniatowa death camps.

The ‘Harvest Festival’ ordered personally by Heinrich Himmler was a response to the Jewish uprising four months earlier. (pg)
