The Oskar Schindler Museum in Krakow has received an award from the British Guild of Travel Writers for ‘Best Overseas Tourism Project’.The museum, housed in what used to be the administrative building of the Schindler’s enamel factory, placed fourth in the competition overall and was also granted an honourable mention.
A branch of Kraków’s Historical Museum, the Schindler Museum has attracted some 75, 000 visitors since it was opened last June.
The exhibits document Schindler factory’s wartime history , the life of Oskar Schindler and the fate of over 1,000 Jews whom he saved from the Holocaust. The story of Oskar Schindler became known thanks to Steven Spielberg’s highly acclaimed film Schindler’s List.
