Cardinal Nycz; photo - PAP President Bronislaw Komorowski has sent a congratulatory message to Warsaw metropolitan Archbishop Kazimierz Nycz after receiving his cardinal’s pallium during a consistory at the Vatican, Saturday. The head of state voiced joy and satisfaction with the decision to include the Polish hierarch in the College of Cardinals.
In President Komorowski’s opinion, this testifies to the rank and prestige assigned the Warsaw archdiocese also thanks to the activity of its former leaders such as Father Aleksander Kakowski, or Cardinals August Hlond, Stefan Wyszynski and Jozef Glemp.
“This is also proof of the highest esteem and trust vested in Your Eminency by the Holy Father, Benedict XVI and brother bishops,” reads the presidential message.
Wishing the new cardinal much success in his pastoral work and expressing confidence in his wise decisions, President Komorowski described the day as a grand celebration for the entire Church in Poland and its community of faithful.
