A provincial governor covered up parts of a report by the local government’s Trauma Centre in Gdansk stating that a clinic which put a Swedish breast enlargement patient in a coma posed a “direct threat” to the life of anyone treated there, it has been revealed.
The report refers to a breast enlargement operation undergone by 31 year old Swedish woman went dramatically wrong.
Before its publication, Governor Roman Zaborowski cut out a part of the report stating that “all patient-related safety principles have been violated, the lack of therapeutic procedures created a direct threat to the health and life of patients on the so-called ‘commercial’ ward (…)”, reports Gazeta Wyborcza.
Last week the full report was handed over to Health Minister Ewa Kopacz, who described it as “shocking”, but Governor Zaborowski refused to release it to the media saying that it contained sensitive personal data, which needed to be removed.
“We have removed sensitive data, because the report was compiled at short notice. I had the impression that it was incomplete and many things needed further explanation. Perhaps we were too cautious but please remember that many accusations are advanced today, of which some are groundless,” Roman Zaborowski said.
Asked why he censored the part about the threat to patients’ health and life, he replied that someone might have misinterpreted it.
