President Gronkiewicz-Waltz; photo - east newsHanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz has been sworn in as President of Warsaw after winning the first round in local elections on 21 November outright.
The ceremony followed the inaugural session of the new City Council.
Her re-election was backed by 53.67 percent of the capital’s voters.
The Civic Platform (PO) candidate secured a second term in the first round at the polls with a decisive victory over her main opponent, Czeslaw Bielecki supported by the opposition Law and Justice party (PiS) who received 23.16 percent of the vote. (ss)
