A partial solar eclipse was observed in Poland this morning, as the shadow began to move over the Sun at 8.14 CET when it was two degrees above the horizon.

At its maximum phase the eclipse obscured over 80% of the solar disc, moving away completely at 11.05 CET.

Previously, an eclipse of comparable scale could be seen in Poland in August 2008. The next one is expected in March 2015. Today’s eclipse was visible in Europe, north Africa and western Asia, and was longest in northern Sweden. (ek)
