During a meeting with representatives of Polish Orthodoxy, Tuesday, President Bronislaw Komorowski stated that multiculturalism is a common legacy in Poland, as well as in Europe.
The meeting comes as Orthodox faithful celebrated Christmas at the end of last week.
During the meeting, Komorowski said that there must be room for tolerance, respect and mutual interest of other faiths and beliefs in Poland. The comment is a reference to Poland’s history, during which there were periods when people of many ethnicities and faiths would often live in the same vicinity in the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth.
Over one hundred people took part in Tuesday’s meeting, including Orthodox clergy, including the Orthodox Metropolitan of Warsaw, Sawa Hrycuniak, as well as local government representatives, activists and academics. (jb)
