  • 20.01.2011
After a warmer spell throughout the country, winter has returned with snowfall reported across Poland, especially in the Podhale highland region.

Weather forecasters predict that more than 10 centimetres of snow is expected to fall in Zakopane, the major resort in the region, over the next few days.

While snow is expected to fall, temperatures are also set to drop to around -10 degrees Celsius in the southern resort over the weekend.

The forecast for Zakopane this weekend, during which the FIS ski-jumping competition is to take place, will see freezing temperatures with sunny periods.

Currently on Kasprowy Wierch, a mountain which lies just to the south of Zakopane, there is a reported depth of 46 cm of snow with temperatures reaching -12 degrees Celsius. (jb)
