• One man dead as prank backfires
  • 24.01.2011
A twenty-year-old man has been pronounced dead after he tumbled from a bridge whilst larking about with friends.

The accident happened on Friday near Wincentow, central Poland, over the river Zagozdzon.

Five young men were present at the scene when the accident occurred. The group crossed the bridge together but when one member lagged behind, a twenty-six-year old man returned to his colleague.

After what appears to have been a light-hearted tussle, both men crashed through the barrier and landed in the water below.

Whilst the older man managed to clamber out of the river, his younger colleague could not be located. After a short search, the group called the emergency services. Attempts to resuscitate the younger man were in vain, and he was pronounced dead on arrival to hospital.

The 26-year-old is liable to face a five-year-sentence for his role in the incident. (nh/jb)
