• Surveillance bracelets for football hooligans
  • 31.01.2011

The Justice Ministry plans to introduce electronic bracelets for convicted football hooligans in time for the Euro 2012 football championships in Poland and Ukraine.

“Football fans should not be scared that they will be spat on or beaten up by hooligans during a match,” says Justice Minister Krzysztof Kwiatkowski.

The new experiment is based on a similar system used by the probation service so as to be able to keep track on small scale offenders. Electronic bracelets for hooligans will enable authorities to enact stadium bans for those convicted of football related violence.

“Thanks to electronic bracelets, a convicted hooligan will be controlled during football matches to make sure he stays at home,” says Kwiatkowski. (mg)
