• Seventh coal miner dies this year

A 49 year-old miner has been killed in the Janina coal in Libiąż, Małopolska province, south western Poland.


The man had been working in the mine for 24 years and is the seventh miner to die in Poland this year.

Spokesman for the Southern Coal Group, Ryszard Wojtków said the accident occurred at 350 metres when the man was struck by a transport vehicle.

The fatality follows the death of another miner last Friday in the Jas-Mos colliery in Jastrzęb Zdroj. (pg)
