Former leftist Prime Minister Wlodzimierz Cimoszewicz makes his debut as a broadcaster on Friday night as a presenter of a two-hour music programme on Polish Radio Białystok in north-eastern Poland.

The show will be a nostalgic journey into the 1960s, with a selection of twenty five hits by The Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Procol Harum, the Animals, Roy Orbison and Mary Hopkins. Cimoszewicz said he would open the programme with Bob Dylan’s 1974 hit ‘Forever Young’.

The idea for the programme came from the Director of Polish Radio Białystok, Władysław Prochowicz, in whose view politicians should not talk only about politics as they have other interests and hobbies as well. He is also thinking of inviting President Komorowski and Prime Minister Tusk to present their favourite hits on air as well.

Mr Cimoszewicz’s next programmes will feature Australian country music and Polish hits of the 1960s and 70s. Wlodzimierz Cimosiewicz served as Prime Minister in 1996 and 1997. He is now a member of the Senate from the Podlasie constituency in north-eastern Poland. (mk/jb)
