A new poll released by TNS OBOP, Wednesday, shows that support for Civic Platform has dropped by 13 points since the pollster’s last survey in January.

If election were to be held at the beginning of February, the ruling Civic Platform would remain in power with 41 percent of the ballot. The opposition Law and Justice would gain 26 percent, a gain of two percentage points on January.

In all, five parties would gain seats to the Sejm Lower Parliamentary Chamber. The Democratic Left Alliance received 13 percent in the poll, with junior coalition partners, the Polish Peasants’ Party gaining 7 percent. The newly-formed centre-right Poland Comes First would receive 6 percent of the ballot.

Frequency would stand at 64 percent if elections were to be held at the beginning of the month, the poll reveals, with 14 percent of respondents stating that they would not know which party to vote for.

The TNS OBOP poll was undertaken between the 3-6 February among a random selection of 981 adult Poles, with interviews being conducted in person. (jb)
