A new opinion poll commissioned by Polish Radio confirms that support for Civic Platform has fallen over the last few weeks, with the ruling party now just four percent ahead of the opposition Law and Justice.

If elections were held this weekend Civic Platform (PO) would receive 32 percent of the vote nationwide, with Law and Justice (PiS) picking up 28.2 percent, shows the poll by the Homo Homini Institute.

The Democratic Left Alliance (SLD) is on 16.4 percent., the junior coalition partner, the Polish Peasant Party (PSL) is on 7.2 percent and Poland Comes First (PJN) is on 5.2 percent.

Turnout would be 54.9 percent.

Director of the Homo Homini opinion pollsters Marcin Duma believes that the latest the survey confirms the tendency of voters to turn away from the government.

Duma also notes growing support for SLD, which has added another one percent to its support compared to a poll taken seven days ago.

The poll was conducted by telephone on 11 February from a representative sample of 1,081.

The general election is scheduled for autumn this year. (pg)
