Police have apparently detained 4 adults in connection with the break-in at the house of the late artist Jerzy Nowosielski.

The celebrated painter passed away in Krakow on February 21, yet within 48 hours, his house had been broken into.

Property to the value of 250,000 zloty (50,000 euro) was stolen from the premises, most notably over a dozen paintings and two antique clocks.

Radio Krakow released information this morning about the arrest of the four suspects and the police have since confirmed a thief, two black marketeers and a woman accomplice are being held.

Police are apparently now searching for the paintings themselves. (nh)
