Prosecutors in Krakow have handed over pictures painted by Jerzy Nowosielski, whose house was burgled two days after his death at the end of February, to the dead artist’s plenipotentiary, art dealer and custodian Andrzej Starmach.

The move comes after police arrested five people in connection to the robbery. The pictures were later recovered in the western town of Krosno Odrzanskie, and are thought to have been due for transportation to Germany.

Three pictures and one icon are still missing. Police investigating the case have announced that they are not discounting further arrests in the matter. (jb)
