Pole Grzegorz Matlok has been accused of breaking into the London house of Madonna while the pop star was at her grandmother’s funeral in the US.

The 29-year-old Pole was caught red-handed on Saturday at 05.30 British time inside Madonna’s heavily-fortified townhouse in Marylebone, West London.

According to police, the man smashed a side window with a stone and managed to climb in the mansion, worth a reported 10 million pounds sterling, using a rope in spite of an array of CCTV cameras and an alarm.

Matlok was found clutching some of Madonna’s possessions and rifling through her bedding.

Grzegorz Matlok is said to have arrived in the UK hours before the raid. Police revealed that the man had stalked Madonna before. Ten months ago, he was arrested for breaking into the star’s former country home and trying on her ex-husband Guy Ritchie’s clothes. Matlok remains in custody while psychiatric reports are prepared.

At the time of the burglary Madonna and her four children were in Bay City, Michigan, where they attended a funeral of the pop star’s grandmother Elsie Mae Fortin, who died last week at the age of 99. (mg/jb)
