Three out of four Poles support the government’s decision not to be involved in the coalition’s military action against the Gaddafi regime in Libya, according to an opinion poll.

Seventy seven percent of respondents told the Millward Brown SMG / KRC opinion pollsters that the decision taken by the centre-right Civic Platform-led government to stay out of the military action, which is now under NATO control, was correct.

PM Donald Tusk said he told EU leaders at the summit in Brussels today that “Poland is ready to participate in humanitarian aid to Libya but will not participate in any military action in the country.”

Poland has already taken part in the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.

The opinion poll was conducted on 24 March by telephone from a representative sample of 1,005. (pg)
