Nurses, including five on hunger strike, ended their protest in parliament today after a week occupying the gallery room.

The protesting nurses met, as requested, with First Lady Anna Komorowska at 15.00 CET today and say they now expect an invitation to meet with the president himself to discuss their grievances.

The trade union (OZZPiP) is protesting at planned changes to nurses contracts, which they say will mean a reduction in their employment rights and will damage the quality of patient care. (pg)
