• Cops searching for apologetic female bank robber
  • 01.04.2011
Police in Zakopane, Poland’s main mountain resort, are searching for a young woman who robbed a local bank and then apologised to the terrified clerk before making her getaway.

The crime took place Friday morning at a branch of the SKOK bank on Kwiatkowski Street.

Reports say that a young lady between 18 and 20 years-old terrorised a female cashier into handing over a sum of money.

According to police, the attack had a decidedly peculiar character.

Firstly, the perpetrator asked for the precise sum of 8000 zloty (2000 euro). When the cashier said that this was unavailable, the assailant accepted 1500, and then apologised to the intimidated employee before fleeing the premises.

It is not clear whether the assailant was carrying a weapon, but throughout the incident she kept one hand under her coat in a suggestive manner.

Police are attempting to glean information from CCTV cameras, but the image quality is reportedly very poor.

Last month, another robbery occurred at a second Zakopane bank, and the perpetrators have yet to be caught. (nh/pg)
