• Coalition partner languishes in poll
  • 05.04.2011

The junior coalition partner, the Polish Peasant’s Party (PSL) could be displaced as the fourth largest party in parliament in elections this autumn by the Law and Justice splinter group, Poland Comes First (PJN), shows a survey by Millward Brown SMG/KRC.

If the elections were held this week, PSL would trail behind Poland Comes First, falling one percentage point short of reaching the five percent election threshold required to gain seats in the lower house (Sejm).

PJN, on the other hand – which broke away from Law and Justice late last year - would enter Parliament with five percent support.

Support for Civic Platform has dropped by one percentage point to 37 percent, while backing for the party’s biggest rival Law and Justice has increased slightly to 29 percent.

Meanwhile, a decisive drop can be spotted for the Democratic Left Alliance (SLD) with backing now down to 11 percent, from the 16 percent in February.

According to the poll, voter turnout would stand at 46 percent.
