PM Donald Tusk is on a visit to Kiev for talks with President Victor Yanukovich and Ukrainian opposite number Mykola Azarov on energy security related issues and Ukraine’s EU aspirations.

Warsaw supports Kiev’s aspirations to enter negotiations on an Accession Agreement with the European Union and conclude a Free Trade Zone Agreement.

Poland wants to bring its eastern neighbours, primarily Ukraine, closer to European structures within the Eastern Partnership program it initiated jointly with Sweden.

Prime ministers Tusk and Azarov are also taking part in a meeting of the Polish-Ukrainian organizational committee of the Euro 2012 football tournament co-hosted by the two countries.

The session topics include medical back up, communications, transport and cooperation in maintaining public security of planned sports and other accompanying events.  (ss)
