  • 14.04.2011
A Girls Only Open Day has been organized this Thursday at sixteen Polish higher schools and universities of technology to encourage more young women into the sciences.

Universities have prepared various attractions to promote themselves to girls. At the technical university in Gdansk, candidates will have an opportunity to compose their own perfumes, while in Bialystok the bill of fare includes a production of thunderstorms.

Bianka Siwinska, coordinator of the action, told Polish Radio that the fruits of the imitative can already be seen.

“This is the fourth time we have done this and we can see that the number of girls studying at technical universities has risen by five percent - 10,000 girls more than before.”

During the latest enrolment at schools of higher learning, technical schools for the first time ever have been more popular than universities. (kk)
