• 35 die on roads over Easter
  • 26.04.2011
Poland’s police have revised the death toll on the roads over the Easter break to 35 since last Friday.

Police say they were called to 379 accidents causing 468 injuries.

As ever, drink driving was a major problem with 1876 people arrested for being over the limit while in charge of a vehicle.

Marcin Książkiewicz from the traffic police HQ has told Polish radio that speeding is one major cause of accidents in the country, plus drivers text-messaging as they dive or talking on their mobiles, which distract them from what is occurring on the road ahead. (pg)
