• Bomb planted in Lodz housing block?
  • 27.04.2011
Residents of an apartment block in the central city of Lodz were evacuated, Wednesday morning, after an unmarked package was found and believed to be a bomb.

The move comes as city police received four telephone calls throughout the night informing of bombs planted throughout the city. The calls were made by an anonymous man.

Police immediately checked the addresses that the man had passed on, only to find an unmarked package in one building on Rojna street in the Teofilow estate in Lodz.

Authorities shut off utilities to the apartment block and evacuated residents as well as from two surrounding buildings in its vicinity.

No further information on the man’s identity has been announced, or whether the supposed bomb was real. (jb)
