Poland’s Ministry of Defence has decided to promote the country’s EU Council presidency by ordering a number of various gadgets in the shape of high-grade bullets.

The Ministry announced the winner of the tender for the supply of the high-grade promotional ‘ammunition’ on Tuesday, allowing a period of eight weeks for its delivery.

The tender has been valued at around 500,000 zloty (125,000 euro), and comprises 3,000 USB memory sticks, 15,000 pens, 10,000 folders, 15,000 paper bags, 5,000 keyrings, 1,000 cups, 2,000 Christmas tree ornaments and 300 ties.

The idea has been lampooned by some, with opposition MP Joachim Brudzinski (PiS) saying “rather than by USB sticks, ties and keyrings to promote the Polish EU presidency, Minister Bogdan Klich should arm our forces with modern equipment.” (jb)
