One miner died and one member of the rescue team also perished following a methane explosion at the Krupinski colliery in the Silesian town of Suszec, Friday. Another of the rescue team is still missing.

A search party is now looking for the missing rescuer around 800 metres under ground. It is not known whether the man is alive of dead.

Nine miners who were taken to hospital on Friday are in a “stable condition”, informed Dr. Marek Grabowski, Saturday morning.

The injured men suffered burns to the respiratory tract and up to 35 percent burns to the rest of the body. (pg)
